MDXA Home

Welcome

Welcome to the first on-line issue of The Magnolia DXer newsletter. This Internet issue of our yearly newsletter will replace the paper version published in previous years. We owe a great deal of gratitude to the editor/publisher of our newsletter for the past several years. Cliff Green, N5WI has served us well and I hope to carry on in his tradition with our on-line issue. Thanks for the many years of hard work Cliff. I hope everyone enjoys this new format for the newsletter.

Message from our
Delta Division Director

Hello MDXA Big Guns! I see and hear MDXA everywhere! Heard a lot of you in the XZ1 pileups and hope everyone worked them on a bunch of bands. Keep up the great work! Holly and I hope everyone and their families have a wonderful Holiday Season.
73,
Rick Roderick - K5UR
Delta Division Director

What's New

Well, the first thing that is new is this Internet version of The Magnolia DXer. In addition, there have been BIG changes with the Magnolia DX Association web page. We have added several new members over the past year as well as taking over management of the W5 Bureau. See details below.

W5 Incoming QSL Bureau

The MDXA took over management of the W5 bureau this year. This is a very large task and the bureau manager, N5FG, would like to thank the many members who have pitched in to help. We are trying to make the W5 bureau the BEST incoming bureau in the ARRL's bureau system. We have pioneered putting some letter sorter's databases online, allowing users to see their status right on the web. No other incoming bureau currently has anything like this and we receive compliments from our users almost daily on this service. In addition, practically all sorters who have email have agreed to make their email address public. This allows them to communicate directly with their users, thus relieving some of this headache from Floyd. Anyone wishing to help is strongly encouraged to contact Floyd, N5FG.

Magnolia DX Association Web Page

After many years of fine service, John, KR4QQ turned over the job of maintaining the web site to Randy, W5UE. I am hopeful to carry on in John's fine tradition. Most recently, the club obtained our own Internet domain name. The web site may now be accessed by http://www.mdxa.org. In addition, all members now have an email address of callsign@mdxa.org.

New Members

Welcome to our newest members. Glenn, K2FF in Ocean Springs, Stan, N5UE in Oak Grove (NOT Hattiesburg), Charlie, KB5VCC in Hattiesburg, Jim, K5JG in Tupelo, Billy, KB5FET in Laurel, Bob, KC5LZY in Wiggins, Ed, KB5GT in Yazoo City, John, KC5LK in Brandon, Lowell, W5NO in Carriere, Stan, K5NY in Perkinston and Terry, W8JE in Rotten Bayou. Good DX to all and hope you enjoy the club. Learn more about these guys in Member News.

Hurricane Georges

Most members were fortunate enough to escape Georges this year with minor antenna damage. A few members had roof damage, but all in all, we were extremely lucky. It was a close call and could have been much worse.
